About Camp Lowden

Camp Lowden is a complete service Scout camp geared toward the outdoor programs of the Boy Scouts of America. It is one of two Scout camps in Blackhawk Area Council, which consists of twelve counties in northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Located seven miles south of Oregon, Illinois, Camp Lowden is on 250 acres of wooded property surrounded by the Lowden-Miller State Forest. Camp Lowden was established in 1940 on the estate of former Illinois Governor Frank Lowden; it is owned and operated by Blackhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Web Site History

	Site Origin In 2001 the original Camp Lowden Web site was founded by Brian Habing, a former staff member, as a way to honor the camp as well as former staff members.
	Site Redesign In 2003 the site was redesigned by students at Northern Illinois University as part of a class project. Former staff member Steve Sarver then integrated the end product into the site that Brian developed.
	Site Approval On August 27, 2003 this site was approved by Blackhawk Area Council as the official Web site of Camp Lowden, BSA.
	Today The Camp Lowden Web site is managed under guidelines set forth by the Boy Scouts of America and Blackhawk Area Council.
