Campmaster Corps


In the late-1990s the Camp Lowden Campmasters Corps was formed. Campmasters are a group of Scouters who give their time to help out by operating Camp Lowden on the weekends so the camp ranger can assume other responsibilities. Ideally, each weekend should have a campmaster.

Campmasters must have a record of demonstrated ability to get along with people, to lead, and to act in an emergency. Campmasters must have a working knowledge of Scouting, troop operations, Scout advancement, and Webelos Scout camping. Basic Campmaster duties include:
  • Check units in and out of camp
  • Serve as a “friendly face” and central point of contact to act as camp liaison for units
  • Perform periodic site visits to ensure that all needs of the unit are met satisfactorily
  • Render commissioner-type service to the units in camp, working with and through the youth leaders and adult leaders
  • In event of breakdown/mechanical emergency know where to turn off problem
  • Advise the Ranger of any potential problem or safety issues
Campmasters select their own time and frequency of service (minimum of twice each year). Campmaster Weekend Schedule
